The Village
Church Past & Ongoing Activities
Past
Events:
In
Dec. Granny spearheaded gathering food and gift bags to deliver to
people in the community. 12 bags will be delivered this year. If
you know of someone who could use a gift from the church, please let us
know.
In Nov. we had a congregational retreat in Mt. Morris WI. It's a
beautiful place. The lodge had many rooms with there own
bathrooms and a nice living room. We did some great activities to
help us and the church grow united in Christ. Justin did a
masterful job preparing scriptures and praising activities. It was a
very
relaxing time.
In Sept. we had our bi-annual give-away. We thank all the
volunteers and people who help make this possible. 260 people
came in.
On
July 8th we had our annual Family Picnic in the Tall Pines at Collins
Park. It was a hot day but God continues to bless us with his
beauty of his creation and the gospel message of salvation.
Thanks to everyone who joined in the fun, food and visiting.
May 4th & 5th we had a huge
free
give-away. Thank You to all who worked so hard to set up and box
up remaining goods to take to Waupaca to share what we had left.
As always we were blessed with an abundance of items to help out
where we can. Another is planned for October 2007.
Oct. 27 & 28th our bi-annual Free
Give-away took place. God blessed us with many items to give-away. So
much that we are giving what's left to a good cause. Over 275 people
came and found something they could use. Thank you to all who
helped make this event a success. We also invited everyone to a potluck
the next day. Plenty of food was shared and enjoyed by all.
We will have another give-away in the Spring.
Oct. 14 about fifteen attended the Empty Bowl
Charity to help feed the hungry in Portage County. It was held at
Spash High School in Stevens Point. It is a good cause and
was a well put on event.
Sept. 28th The first Fall Bazaar was held at the building during the
Main Street tractor pull. About ten vendors used the building.
Sept. 16th Woodworking Day/Crafts and fun @ Floyds.
Aug. 5th was a beautiful day to have Woodworking Day out at
Floyds. 18 of us came out and made some special things(Bird
Houses, Tables, Wall art...) We all enjoyed the Little Wolf River and
the food and fellowship.
In July on Friday Evenings during the summer the Evergreen Church &
Highland Church puts on free movies to all at Iverson Park in Stevens
Point. Twelve of us met there, ordered in pizza and enjoyed the
movie "The Incredibles". I encourage you to go out and take in an
outdoor movie sometime. For information email the Village
Church.
We had a Family Picnic Day at Collins Park Shelter house on June
11th. Many people came and enjoyed the Chicken and potluck
dishes. We visited and laughed and held a nice outdoor worship service
that evening. The song leader was superb. The sermon was
captivating as Justin recounted how it must have felt to realize how
John, Peter and Mary must have thought when they were at the empty tomb
and the realization set in that Jesus had risen.
Our April 29-30 Free Giveaway went very well. Over 230 people
came through. We'd like to thank all who came and donated items
for this event. We pray for anyone who needs God's help.
The Village Church is always looking for ways to spread God's message
and love for all who seek.
Feb. 11th we had a game night of fun. We hope to plan more fun
events soon.
Jan. 1st, 2006! The New Years Day Celebration
was very nice, we thank God we are so blessed. The party had many
friends celebrating with great food & fun.
Thanks to everyone who helped fill the bus Oct. 7 & 8th, God Bless
You, please check out the Journey of the Blue Whale.
Oct. 21-22 was the
Bi-Annual Free Give-Away. Around 200 people came through, we had an out
pouring of generosity and we thank God this continues to be a
success. The extra clothes and items left over will be taken down
to a inner city shelter in Milwaukee & some will go to Good Will.
